During the Hood Museum of Art’s NAGPRA re-inventory of ancestral remains in March 2021, we learned of two Inuit ancestors housed in the collection. Further research at the Rauner Special Collections Library led to a geographical and cultural affiliation with Cape York and Umanak in Greenland. We have shared this information with the Greenland Museum and Archives who have requested to care for these ancestral remains. Our leadership is proud to support this international repatriation effort and looks forward to returning these ancestors to Greenland this coming fall. Thank you to our Greenland colleagues for their partnership.
